➡️Your full life insurance coverage starts 2 years after you apply. You must pay the premiums during those two years.
➡️ If you die during the 2 year waiting period, they will pay your beneficiaries the total amount you paid in premiums, plus around 10% interest.
➡️ If you die anytime after the 2 year waiting period, your beneficiaries will be paid the full coverage amount of your policy.
➡️ If the death occurs while hospitalized by the VA, it will pay a $893 burial allowance and $893 for a burial plot
➡️ If the death is service-connected, the VA will pay a burial allowance of up to $2,000 and may reimburse some transportation costs of remains
➡️ For an indigent veteran with no next of kin, the VA will furnish either a casket or cremation urn for interment in either a national, state or tribal veterans cemetery.
➡️ The Social Security Administration also will pay a death benefit of $255.
This ensures your family is prepared for any unexpected costs.
Guaranteed Acceptance If you're 80 years or younger and you have a VA service-connected disability rating 0 - 100% or if you're 81 or older and you have received your disability rating within the last 2 years.
The VALife coverage comes with a 2 year waiting period regardless of your health. This option will ONLY make sense if you have determined you can not qualify for coverage without a 2 year wait.
If its determined that VALife is your BEST option you can choose a benefit amount from $10,000 up to $40,000 in increments of $10,000. Your price will be FIXED for the remainder of your life.
You can APPLY Directly through the VA website. You will need to ensure you have an Id.me, Login.gov, or a DS Logon account to verify your Veteran Status. If you run into trouble you can also apply directly at your VA Clinic.
Once you apply the policy will be mailed to you for review. Please ensure you understand how the 2 year waiting period works and be sure to place the policy in a safe location
1) Determine Eligibility
- You may be eligible if you're paying the funeral costs and you won't be reimbursed by any other organization. Additionally you may not have received a dishonorable discharge.
2) VA Burial Benefits
- If it's determined you're eligible you may receive the VA burial allowance for burial and funeral costs, VA plot allowance for the gravesite (if not using a national cemetery), or transportation reimbursement.
3) Prepare Documentation
- Ensure your family has all of the paperwork necessary to apply. They will need a copy of your DD214, death certificate, any documents or receipts for the costs incurred, and a statement of account (from the funeral director / cemetery owner).
4) Apply for Coverage
- Families should apply for VA burial benefits by contacting the National Cemetery Scheduling Office, submitting Form 21P-530 for burial allowances, or submitting Form 40-1330 for headstones or markers.
5) Receive Reimbursement
- If a veteran’s family incurs funeral and burial costs before applying for VA benefits, they may be eligible for reimbursement of certain expenses.
The reimbursement process for VA burial benefits typically takes around 4 to 16 weeks after the VA receives the necessary documentation and the application is approved. However, the exact timeline can vary based on several factors, including the complexity of the case, the accuracy of submitted documents, and the VA's processing workload.

From a Veteran to Veterans...There should be a link on the VA site to contact Josh. We all know the VA does not cover the entire cost of our funerals. We have to shop for ourselves. In doing so I came across all types of brokers, sales people, customer service reps, telemarketers, so on and so forth. I took the call with Josh and right away I could tell this is where I needed to be. Their objective first and foremost was to hear me out and listen to where I was with the process. Then they broke down the new VA Life plan for me. At that point we determined that I didn't need a two year wait with my policy. The VA and everyone else I spoke to was trying to stick me in a 2 year wait policy. I was able to find day one proper coverage at a price that was the least expensive from every other quote I got. Veteran to Veterans...take the call with USIG!

This was NOT a "sales call". I really wish more people understood what Josh is doing. If they listen for 5 minutes they would understand they are trying to help and they are making a big difference. USIG helped me switch two AARP policies. One was still in a two-year wait and they were able to find me more coverage for the same price that was DAY ONE. Please listen to them.

I was on the verge of giving up! Every person I spoke with didn't want to hear about my health. I didn't know how I was going to protect my wife when I passed. After a chat with Josh, where we discussed my needs, health, and budget...they were on it! Within 24 hours I was approved for day one coverage! Thank you USIG!!
